Ms. Santiago & Ms. Neumann-Schwabe are traditional school nurses, in which they provide WHS students with: first aid, makes sure the students on medication are taking it properly, help students with communicable diseases, and also provide the students with emergency health plans.

Ms. Wilson deals with teen parents or pregnant teens for whom she receives referrals. She finds out what the teens need and informs them of governmental programs such as: W.I.C., and W-2. She informs them that they can receive daycare, medical insurance, food stamps, and help in general when it comes to supporting their child. Ms. Mueller makes sure these students are physically okay, and going to the doctor. When they are on maternity leave, she does her best to make sure their teachers knows, and gets the work they are missing to them, so they will not fall too far behind in school. Ms. Mueller also provides support groups discussing issues important to pregnancy, child development, personal issues, self-esteem, and having a home.

Ms. Ward provides School Social Work services to the students. These services encompass a range of physical and socio-emotional needs extending from home, community, and within the school. Her roles are diverse and a few are: advocacy, collaborator, liaison, resource developer, attendance/truancy, counseling & supporter, IEP assessor, assessor, and screener. MS. Ward 's ultimate goal as the social worker is to fulfill unmet needs in collaboration with parents, school professionals, students, and the community so that Washington High School experience will be a successful one for everyone

The STEP-UP (School to Employment Upward Progress) Program is one of several youth programs offered by the Private Industry Council (PIC), a Workforce Development Board. The STEP-UP Program offers career exploration and job readiness training opportunities for youth ages 14-21 in an effort to build the skills neccessary to gain meaningful employment, and most importantly, to successfully graduate high school. The program has been in existance since 1989, and the STEP-UP coordinators are located in the MPS high schools. The program also serves out-of-school yourth from it's 2342 North 27th Street site.
